Our Basketball programs are offered for the following ages - and we have separate boys and girls basketball programs:
Intro to Basketball - (5-6 year olds) This is a 6 week program that will meet twice a week. The first 3 meetings will be clinic style run by the RARO staff introducing the fundamental skills and rules of basketball. After the clinics, kids will be broken up into teams and will have 1 practice and 1 game each week. The intro league will play 4 on 4 games with rules that allow the kids to gain confidence in developing their basketball skills and basic concepts of the game. This program will start in January.
All of our Rookie / Junior / Senior programs will follow a similar format:
Registration......Evaluations....Team Selection/Draft....Practices Begin.....Games Begin
Rookies (7-8 year olds) This is program is designed to continue developing basic fundamentals but begin introducing the team concept along with competition. The Rookies will play 4 on 4 to maximize on court time, basic concepts in spacing, screening, and defensive positioning. This program will start the beginning of November. Games are played on Saturdays.
Juniors (9-10 year olds) This program continues to work on the foundations laid in our Intro and Rookie leagues. Offensive movements and actions designed to break down a team defense will be utilized. Defensive positioning and each player working as 1 to stop the ball will be a main focus. This program will start the beginning of November.
Seniors (11-13 years old) This program is where it all starts to come together. The individual fundamentals, the team concepts, and schemes become a major part of the offensive and defensive plans. This program will start the beginning of December.
